Throwing together a fashion show does not need to be as difficult or complicated as it sounds. You need to first, however, determine your intention for putting a fashion show together. Are you a designer or a friend of a designer and you want to show off your new seasonal looks? Perhaps you want to put together a more lighthearted event designed to be fun for the audience and participants.
Fashion shows can also be a great event to raise money and garner awareness for charitable causes. Even if you want to host a fashion show event for fun reasons, adding the element of charity elevates the event while doing good in the world. You will likely attract more people and a greater diversity of individuals to your event if it is dually purposed. Additionally, you can likely get many of your event’s needs donated to the event, or at least heavily discounted, when if it weren’t charity, you would probably need to pay for most of it yourself.
Planning the event location and participants is another fundamental step. You will also need to determine what kinds of labor you will need, including modeling talent. Getting benefactors to model is one way to get donations rolling in as well as using children as models. If you need to use professional modeling talent, find a way to get the models to donate their time or else factor that into your costs.
Advertising is the last key and it is a huge component to hosting a successful fashion show event. If no one attends your event, there is likely no reason to host it. Getting the word out can be easy with a mass distribution of flyers in locales that have high traffic with your targeted demographics. Print, radio, television and banner ads are also options, budget-permitting, but flyers are likely your best option for making your event a hit.
